Course Description

The IRS's Streamlined Filing Compliance Procedures (SFCP) continue to be a valuable tool for taxpayers who are not in compliance with prior-year U.S. income tax reporting obligations. This presentation is designed to provide tax professionals with an overview of the SFCP and will focus on the program's requirements, including who is eligible for the program. The webinar will also discuss potential traps for tax professionals who are unfamiliar with the SFCP's various requirements. The course will also compare the SFCP with other available IRS compliance programs that may be used by tax professionals to assist their clients in regaining compliance with unreported foreign income or U.S. reporting obligations.

Matthew Roberts is a tax partner at Meadows Collier in Dallas, Texas. He is Board Certified in Tax Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and represents worldwide clients on federal tax controversy matters involving civil or criminal liability. Roberts received an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University. He then served nearly three years as a law clerk to the Chief Judge of the U.S. Tax Court.

He has represented more than 100 clients in tax matters before the Tax Court and federal district courts in controversies ranging from $100,000 to $100 million. Roberts has also served as an adjunct tax professor at a major Texas law school where he taught Corporate Income Tax.
